Dooley Noted; Could This Finally Be the Blog For You?

Myself and the man who drives me bonkers!
Welcome! I see you've stumbled upon the blog Dooley Noted, but please! Have a seat and stay awhile. My name is Dallas and I'll be your host today (and every day after because, hey, this is my blog). You may be wondering about the odd spelling, but I assure you there's a reason. You see, my first name is Dallas, but my last name is Dooley. Therefore, Dooley Noted is a blog about things that spark my interest; most often in the surrounding areas of Denver, CO that I now call home.

Right now I know that I'm just a stranger to you with a pretty rad name, so allow me to brief you with a condensed version of my life's story. I grew up in a small town in Texas, moved to New Mexico for college, graduated and became a teacher at a high poverty school in northeastern New Mexico, made a huge life decision to follow my boyfriend to Colorado, and now I'm here (whew! I'm winded and that's only half the story). I'm a lover of all things agriculture and education, an avid traveler, food junkie and pet mom. I have had blogs in the past; none of which I've really kept up with #collegestudent.
My most active blog was named Dallas's Dabbles. It was primarily directed towards agriculture and dispelling some of the myths that surround hardworking farming families and communities. You can find it here. My love of agriculture comes from growing up on a farm, which prompted me to go for my bachelor's degree in Agricultural and Extension Education and minor in livestock production. From there I continued to follow my passions, and I taught various agriculture classes in grades 7-12 for one year in a high poverty school before I made the decision to follow the love of my life to Colorado.

Despite choosing a career path that focuses on the sciences, I've always been an avid writer.
I love writing content that my readers can relate to. I hope that the stories I write in this blog will be a source of information to my readers who wish to travel or live in or around Denver, CO. That's not to say that you cannot follow this blog if you wish to do neither of those things! I love celebrating the holidays, cooking and taking photographs of nature, so you're sure to find something you like even if you don't live here.

When you visit my blog, you will be reading about things that interest ME.
I won't write about what's trendy unless it's something that has specifically sparked my interest, or it backs up my opinion of why something is totally awesome. I'll update this blog weekly. Sometimes I get really excited and put aside all my other responsibilities, and during those times I may update more often.

The audience I write for are every day people. I am young, so my content will resonate best with 20-somethings.
I like to stay organized and busy, but life often gets in the way of accomplishing those goals. You'll like my blog best if you're flexible and understanding. I strongly encourage feedback! I want to make Dooley Noted a space for me to express myself, but also to satisfy the interests of my audience. Please feel free to leave constructive feedback. Any profanely negative comments directed towards myself or others will be removed.
My goal is for Dooley Noted to be a space for positive communication to be had and new friendships to be formed.

If what you've read so far interests you, I'd appreciate your support and following!

My Job Search Train Wreck

Hi everyone! So, I got a notification from Google+ telling me that it had been a while since I've posted...oops! I've been so busy these last few weeks that I almost forgot I'm trying to launch a new blog. 😬 I'm back on track now, and I'm hoping to set a regular posting date so that I can give y'all updates weekly.  Previously, we had discussed how I was walking dogs for Wag! as a temporary gig. During that time, I applied to over TWENTY-SEVEN jobs on Indeed.com. Once I had my resume updated, all I had to do was click a button, so I went a little nuts. I got several calls for interviews; I believe I had 10 in total. WHAT I DID NOT REALIZE is that 6 of those jobs would give me offers!!! Now, you may be thinking, "How is six job offers a bad thing?". Well, let me tell you I was completely overwhelmed. What I had mistakenly done was apply to these jobs and accept interviews with too many days in-between. I was hired BEFORE I even went to the inter...

Turn an Interview From Intimidating to In-the-Bag

What. A. Week! I know, it's only Tuesday, but still; I feel like I ran a triathlon on Monday. From sun-up I was answering emails, scheduling bill payments and driving around like a maniac (Denver traffic being partly to blame). Who in their right mind would be doing all of these things at once...on a Monday?!? First off, I assure you I have never been in my right mind, but second let me give a quick update about where I stand in life at the moment. Since we moved to Colorado, I haven't had a job. Okay, I guess that's not entirely true. I've been walking dogs for Wag! (which I will be writing a post about here soon). It's a pretty sweet gig. A dog owner puts out a request for a walk, I request it (sometimes I get it, sometimes I don't), I drive to that person's house, spend quality time with their dog for X-minutes and leave. Some dogs are great! Some dogs are...finding themselves still. While it adds a little cushion to mine and Brandon's bank accou...
